Terms of service
The terms for using VapeRecord. Plain words, so you know what the records are and what they are not.

Who we are
These terms govern use of vaperecord.co.uk and its redirecting domains (the "Service"), operated by VapeRecord ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. Contact: [email protected].
What the Service is
VapeRecord publishes dated facts from public registers about vaping products sold in the UK, and provides tools that check a business's own product list against those facts and the published duty and stamp rules. It sells software and data. It does not sell, promote or advertise vaping products, and it has no shop, basket or buy links.
What a record is not
- A record states what a source showed on the date shown. It is not a finding that a product, shop or company is lawful or unlawful, and it is not legal, tax or regulatory advice.
- Duty figures are calculated from the published rate in force on the date shown. Your duty position depends on facts we do not hold; check with HMRC or an adviser.
- A stock check helps you find gaps in your own records. Your obligations under the law, including age-of-sale checks, product limits and duty stamps, remain yours.
See Accuracy and disputes for how states are defined and how to dispute a record.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the Service to advertise or promote vaping products.
- Do not scrape the Service beyond what robots.txt allows, or try to get around rate limits or access controls.
- Do not upload files you have no right to share, or files containing other people's personal data that the check does not need.
- Do not test the security of the Service without following our security.txt.
Accounts and uploaded files
When accounts open, you sign in by email link or with Google. Files you upload stay private to your organisation. We never publish them, sell them, or combine them into statements about which retailer stocks which product.
To improve matching for everyone, you grant us a licence to reuse de-identified barcode confirmations: a barcode and the notification you confirmed it matches, with no account, quantity or price. You can opt out at any time in your account settings, and paid plans lose no feature by opting out.
Paid plans
Paid plans are not on sale yet. When they open, prices will be shown in pounds before you pay, billing will run monthly or annually through our payment provider, and you will be able to cancel from the billing portal at any time, with access continuing to the end of the paid period.
Our content
Public sector information we republish stays under its licence, including the Open Government Licence v3.0. Our own text, design, code and compiled records are ours. You may quote individual records with a link to the record page and the date shown.
Liability
We work to keep records accurate and dated, but sources change and can be wrong. The Service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on a record, a calculation or a check, and our total liability in any year is limited to the fees you paid us in that year. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and law
We will post changes here with a new date and, for material changes affecting paid accounts, email account owners in advance. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
